How to change your name in BGMI (step by step)
Renaming in Battlegrounds Mobile India needs a Rename Card. Here is the accurate, current process:

- Open BGMI and tap your profile picture / player name (top-left of the lobby).
- Tap the Edit (pencil) icon next to your name.
- Paste the copied style into the name box and tap to confirm. Renaming requires a Rename Card — new accounts usually get one free; after that you can buy one from the shop (with UC) or earn one from events.
- If the game rejects a symbol, delete that glyph and use a simpler one (like ★ or a small-caps letter), then save.
Will a stylish name get you banned?
No — a fancy font or a decorative symbol is just personalization and is used by millions of BGMI players. There is no official rule against Unicode names. What can get you actioned is the content of a name: offensive, abusive, sexual, or names that impersonate Krafton staff or other players. So pick a stylish name freely, but keep it clean. Two real limits to remember:
- Character limit: BGMI nicknames allow up to 14 characters. Fancy letters count as one character each, so a 14-letter styled name still fits.
- Name filter: a small set of rare glyphs (some combining marks, zero-width characters and a few brackets) are silently rejected when you save. That’s why we mark riskier chips ⚠ test — not a ban risk, just a “won’t save” risk.
